What We Do

Our Purpose

Using the resources and expertise from both AHEC and the YWCA, our function is to serve as a workforce intermediary for the healthcare sector. To be responsive to regional healthcare employer needs and deliver comprehensive, customized talent development services to future healthcare employees. Focusing on the Milwaukee 7 region of southeastern Wisconsin, our vision is to build lasting connections between healthcare workers and employers by:

  • Engaging local healthcare employers and workers using a dual customer strategy
  • Partnering with a broad range of healthcare sector stakeholders to identify workforce needs
  • Providing and brokering in training, education, and supportive services that address employer and worker needs
  • Soliciting and aligning funding from various sources to support healthcare industry employers and workers
  • Analyzing healthcare specific challenges and design solutions
  • Promoting system and policy change

Other MAHA Activities

  • Assessing current and future employer needs for skilled workforce and assessing workers’ barriers to family sustaining jobs in the healthcare sector
  • Assessing current education and training and identifying gaps for both employers and low-skilled workers.
